NAFDAC Warns Nigerians Not to Use This Counterfeit Non-Dairy Creamer Products

Digital Products

The Nigerian public has been asked to stay away from counterfeit Ginny Non-Dairy Creamer products selling across markets, especially in the north.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) issued the serious alert, noting that these non-dairy creamers are widely used in northern Nigeria as an alternative to milk in drinks and food.

The agency said the product has been found to contain significant breaches of safety regulations, posing serious health threats to users.

The counterfeit versions of Ginny Non-Dairy Creamer significantly fall short of meeting NAFDAC’s stringent Pre-Packaged Food Labelling Guidelines, making them hazardous for consumption.

Comparison between Counterfeit and Authentic Products

Upon examination, several critical discrepancies were noted between the counterfeit creamers and the authentic Ginny Non-Dairy Creamer:

1. Product Naming: The counterfeit products are misleadingly labeled as “Ginny Milky Creamer” which could confuse consumers looking for the authentic “Ginny Non-Dairy Creamer.”

2. Manufacturing Details: The genuine creamers list FUJIAN JUMBO GRAND FOOD CO.LTD., China, as the manufacturer. However, the counterfeits omit essential manufacturing information, casting doubts about their production and safety controls.

3. Regulatory Compliance: The counterfeit batches lack a NAFDAC registration number, an essential mark of adherence to national safety and quality norms.

4. Product Details: There are vague and inaccurate details concerning the type of creamer, its weight (erroneously marked as “±35g”), and incorrect images on the packaging.

Guidelines for the Public

In light of these findings, NAFDAC has instructed its regional and state offices to ramp up monitoring activities to halt the distribution of these counterfeit products.

The agency advises distributors, retailers, and consumers to remain vigilant and only purchase food products from reputable and certified sources.

Should anyone suspect they have acquired a counterfeit Ginny Creamer or other compromised products, they are urged to report immediately to NAFDAC. This can be done through NAFDAC’s dedicated hotline or email, enabling the agency to take prompt action and safeguard public health.

Furthermore, healthcare professionals and consumers are encouraged to report any adverse reactions associated with NAFDAC-regulated products through the agency’s online reporting systems.
