Woman Napping in Car in Shock at What Boyfriend Did as She Slept

Google News

A woman has gone viral after recording what her boyfriend did when she fell asleep in a car.

On May 29, Hugrun Hannesdottir, 27, posted a clip on TikTok of herself in a dark vehicle, saying: “I went napping, and I just woke up. And my boyfriend did this.” The video then shows a screen on the dashboard with a cartoon dog and a safety message: “My driver will be back soon. Don’t worry! The heater is on and it’s 70 degrees F.”

Hannesdottir, who is from Iceland but now lives in the U.S., says, “He put me on dog mode,” before resuming her nap. The video has received 3.7 million views and more than 900,000 likes.

The TikToker told Newsweek: “He told me afterward it was to ensure the air quality and temperature in the car was nice, but he was also making fun since there is a keep mode, which is similar without the dog on the screen.”

“Dog mode” allows passersby to see that any dog left in a locked car is safe and in comfortable temperatures.

Temperatures in a car during the summer can climb fast, with a 70-degree Fahrenheit car reaching up to 100 degrees within 20 minutes, according to the American Kennel Club. And in winter, a dog can face hypothermia or frostbite because of poor insulation.

In the video’s comment section, Hannesdottir said the couple was traveling in a Tesla, a leader in introducing “dog mode.”

Hannesdottir, who met her boyfriend, Sindri Andrason, in college, told Newsweek, “We were driving back home from dinner, but I became pretty tired on the highway and fell asleep.”

She then woke up “in the parking lot next to a CVS and noticed a dog on the screen, which made me realize that my boyfriend set the dog mode on.”

Hannesdottir added that Andrason, 30, is “quite sweet,” and that the reason they were at the CVS was to get a battery for her car keys, which had died earlier that day.

Hannesdottir said her boyfriend is “quite sweet” but was definitely “making fun” by leaving her on dog mode. Her video has gone viral since being uploaded in May.

The clip amused TikTok users, with over 1,000 viewers praising the couple.

One wrote that Andrason was a “green flag,” while another labeled him “husband material.”

“You just know he was giggling when doing it,” another commenter added.

“THIS is how I ask to be treated in a relationship,” a user said.

Another wrote, “Looks like you had the best nap of your life tho!”

Hannesdottir said the video going viral on her account @zacperian has been “a strange experience.” She added, “It made me laugh, and I am glad to hear it put a smile on others, too.”
