The men’s tennis team completed a busy weekend with two wins in two matches.
The Bearcats won their CUNYAC contest yesterday against Lehman (9-0) and today defeated U.S.M.M.A. (7-2) to raise their season record to 8-3.
The match today was delayed by a passing shower after doubles, but the two teams resumed play and due to court availability, played an eight-game pro set to finish the singles.
The Bearcats started by winning all three doubles and then took four of the six singles for the 7-2 team win.
The third doubles duo of Reda Ljazouli and Jordan Hernandez won the first team point winning 8-1.
The Bearcats stayed in control in the singles with wins by Tuna Nergizoglu (#1, 8-5), Nicholas Santiago (#2, 8-1), Reda Ljazouli (#5, 8-0) and Gonzalo Abad (#6, 8-2) all victorious.
The Bearcats will return to action on Tuesday playing a rare tennis doubleheader at the U.S. National Tennis Center. They will play John Jay College at 3:00 p.m. and York College at 6:00 p.m.
The team will also host their Bearcats Appreciation Day on Tuesday to honor final-season players Santiago, Abad, George Arteaga, and Jaime Borrajo Boticario.
