Two Chinese Nationals Charged with Laundering $73 Million in Pig Butchering Crypto Scam. The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed criminal charges against two Chinese nationals accused of running a pig-butchering cryptocurrency scam that laundered a minimum of $73 million through shell companies in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and other U.S. cities. The individuals, identified as Daren Li (41) and Yicheng (38), were arrested in Atlanta on April 12, and in Los Angeles on May 16. The foreign nationals have been “charged for leading a scheme to launder funds to the tune of at least $73 million tied to an international crypto investment scam,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said.
