If you think you already have too many emojis, prepare for bad news. More emojis are coming all the time. The emoji conveyor belt never stops, and new emojis will keep arriving on your iPhone until the emojiverse disappears.
Thanks to the Unicode Consortium currently publishing the proposals it expects to feature, we now have a good idea of what emojis are likely to be churned out by the conveyor belt next year. Version 16.0 This is the latest version of the emoji list. (As of this writing, the latest set of emoji is version 15.1.) Version 16.0 is currently scheduled to include the following new emoji:
- A face with dark circles under the eyes
- fingerprint
- tree without leaves
- Root vegetables (usually beets, but turnips are also included in search terms)
- harp
- shovel
- splatter
- Sark flag
These emojis could change or be removed between now and the 16.0 release sometime next year, but the fact that the consortium published the list indicates they’re likely to be cut. I am. Since then, however, the Unicode Consortium has stepped back and allowed technology companies to handle emojis in their own way. Apple, Google and other companies create their own artwork for each of the above, and they can be very different from each other. (Most famously, Apple arbitrarily changed the gun emoji. to a water gun This decision was made in 2016, and other companies have since followed suit.
But either way, you’ll likely see Beat, Shovel, and Splatter coming to your iPhone sometime in 2025 as part of the iOS 18-point update. And it doesn’t cost a penny.
