In a day full of corporate news, Anglo American received another takeover bid from BHP and Pick & Pay appears to be making progress on its turnaround. Engineering electronics group Leunart reported a sharp rise in profits, while Life Healthcare also did well, raising its dividend by 12%. In international news, UK regulators have fined Citigroup approximately R1.4 billion for mismanagement of trading operations. This is one of the biggest sanctions for violating the system.
