MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) – The Mid-America Senior Softball League took on the St. Joseph County Special Olympics softball team at its second annual fundraiser for the Special Olympics.
The two teams played a friendly, yet competitive game of 12-inch softball on Saturday at Normain Heights Park in Mishawaka.
The two teams had a blast, and it was all for a good cause with the senior softball team donating money for a scholarship and money to the Special Olympics.
“We wanted to be more involved in the community with philanthropic endeavors,” explained Rich Gosbin. “All the things were doing are to have a footprint on the community so we can be giving back at our age, we are just lucky to play softball.”
A picnic was held after the game serving burgers, hotdogs, and drinks.
And we also learned the Special Olympics team beat the Mid-America Senior team 15-14.
