Google News Some angry customers whose mobile sim cards were deactivated due to the non-linkage of their National Identification Numbers (NIN) to their sim cards on Monday, vandalized an MTN office located in Lagos State.

As earlier reported by Naija News, several disgruntled MTN customers flooded the company’s offices nationwide on Monday, voicing their frustration and disappointment over the recent blocking of their phone numbers by the telecom giant.

Recall that on Sunday, MTN deactivated the mobile lines of numerous users, reportedly due to NIN-SIM linkage issues.

Things, however, got out of hand when some of the angry subscribers stormed the MTN office at 72 Junction, Opposite First Bank, 23 Road, Festac Town, Lagos, and took out their frustration on the buildings over allegations that the staff were unwilling to help.

A 17-second video shared on X, showed a crowd of subscribers breaking into the telecoms premises. The crowd pulled back the iron bars used as security fencing around the premises to access the building.

However, at the time of filing this report, our correspondent gathered that normalcy had been restored.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a directive to telecommunication operators over several customers’ blocked phone lines affected by the NIN-SIM verification exercise.

In a statement on Monday, the NCC ordered the telecommunication operators to reactivate all blocked SIMs immediately.
