Cam Merchant’s son has a broken leg: “Ideas to keep him entertained?”

“He’s in a wheelchair for six weeks with a full cast up to his thigh.”

After sharing his three-year-old son broke his leg while going down a slippery slide, Married at First Sight‘s Cam Merchant has asked his Instagram followers for advice on how to keep Ollie entertained while he is in a full leg cast and a wheelchair for six weeks.

Cam, who met his wife Jules Robinson on the reality match-making show in 2018, and are expecting their second child later this year says, “Ollie unfortunately broke his leg but he’s such a trooper. He’s in a wheelchair for six weeks with a full cast up to his thigh. It has been so hard for him. So, if anyone has any thoughts on how to get by?”

The doting dad revealed Ollie suffered a broken tibia and fibula in the slippery slide accident but says he is “still all smiles”.

He continues: “Think he’s actually dealing with it better than we are as parents.. (Heartbreaking seeing your kids get hurt) but he’s just taken it all in his stride.. or non stride.. & being so calm & positive about it all. Staying still all day is never easy, especially for a 3 year old so full time focus & entertainment is our role (especially when daycare put it in the “too hard” basket) so am trying to come up with many ideas to keep him entertained.”

Cam finished the post asking his followers for any “great ideas or adventures” to help keep Ollie entertained while he is recovering.

Thankfully for Cam and Jules, the creative ideas flooded in with plenty of parents and fans also sending their well wishes to Ollie too.

“What about a giant puzzle that takes 6 weeks to finish??? Baking cookies where he can mix in the chair and roll the mixture into balls. Those marble towers should buy you some time and he should be able to do at table or floor. Hope he heals really quick and you guys will survive. All the best for Jules too with baby 😀,” wrote one follower.

Another added: “The Leap Frog tablet is fantastic and offers a lot of art, music, and educational games.”

“My 3 year old loves the magnetic tiles and Marble run he plays with them for hours,” offered a parent.

“My 6 year old had broken her leg and her ankle, separate occasions, both times double bounced on trampoline, needless to say never again. So we feel your pain, it’s hard work but, baking, slime, play dough, can even make the play dough your self for extra fun. Painting, painting rocks, making shakers with empty bottles, lots of outdoors seeing what you can spy in the neighbourhood, ticking it off a list even like a scavenger hunt,” sympathised a mum.

“Local library should have rhyme time and story time sessions,” suggested another helpful follower.

“In Scotland we make something called “gloop” its cornflour and water mixed together so much fun….and a little messy can add glitter food colouring etc! Speedy recovery big guy!” wrote another fan.

Another sure-fire winner was, “Bluey on repeat 😂”

Wishing Ollie all the best for a speedy recovery!
