Shock moment Rangers ultras confront Celtic fans at Hoops pub in Merchant City on morning of cup final

THIS is the shocking moment Rangers ultras confronted Celtic fans outside a Hoops pub in the Merchant City on the morning of the Scottish Cup final.

The two Glasgow giants are due to clash on the pitch at Hampden Park with a 3pm kick-off.

And tensions are clearly high in the city in the hours leading up to the game, as this footage from outside Grace’s pub in the Merchant City shows.

The Irish sports bar on Candleriggs is frequently used as a gathering spot for Hoops fans on match days.

And drinkers in the pub this morning had the sight of a number of followers of the Union Bears ultras group confronting them outside the pub.

Clad in blue T-shirts with black shorts or trousers, while many had their faces covered.

A video shows door staff outside the pub to ensure that none gain entry, while a number of police are spotted runing up and down the street in an attempt to gain order.

A source at the pub told the Scottish Sun: “There was a police presence outside the pub but it was all dealt with very quickly.

“There were no injuries.”

Police were shown shepherding the Rangers fans away from the Trongate ahead of a Celtic supporter march to Hampden.

Celtic supporters are due to walk from the east end of the city to the national stadium from about 12 noon.

Footage which circulated last night also appeared to show the Union Bears group gathering outside Celtic pubs.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An appropriate policing plan is in place to maintain public safety and minimise any disruption to the community.

“We continue to work closely with a range of partners, including Glasgow City Council and both clubs.”

The weather is set to smile on Hampden this afternoon.

Following a dull morning, the clouds are set to break just before kick-off, with temperatures in the high teens Celsius.
