‘Massive news’: Agbonlahor suggests news about Liverpool player is great for the Premier League

Liverpool and Virgil van Dijk have started the new Premier League season like Jurgen Klopp never left.

Arne Slot has made a 100% start as Liverpool’s new manager and his captain has helped him settle in such a smooth manner.

You sense that the Merseyside giants are at a crossroads and it’s a case of how the road will be mapped out for the team in the coming years.

The former Premier League striker also claimed that the Premier League needs players like van Dijk because of how ‘unbelievable’ he is, as he told talkSPORT (09/09/24 at 7:20 am).

Ally McCoist agreed with his fellow pundit and lauded the possibility of van Dijk now staying at Liverpool.

“Brilliant news. Delighted. He admitted after the Euros that he needed to have a think about his future for both club and country, which he is well entitled to do. But Virgil has now made it clear that he wants to lead the Dutch at the 2026 World Cup and also stay on Merseyside. Brilliant news.”

Agbonlahor responded: “Massive news. We want players like van Dijk still in the Premier League. But, for Liverpool now, they have to try and get Trent signed up as well if possible because van Dijk is unbelievable.”

Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool futures

Salah has been pretty open about his Liverpool future and he has started like a house on fire, contributing with a goal or an assist in his opening three matches.

That just adds fuel to the fire and it will result in the fans pushing the club to extend his contract because he could be out of the exit door next summer.
