Pakistan Navy deploys warships to Indian Ocean to guard merchant ships

Pakistan Navy has deployed warship PNS ASLAT and helicopters to the Indian Ocean to protect commercial ships sailing in and out of Pakistani ports, a move aimed at enhancing maritime security and ensuring safe passage of commercial vessels.

According to the Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR), PNS ASLAT will carry out both independent and joint missions with allied nations. The ship’s primary objective is to maintain maritime security and safeguard Pakistan’s national interests at sea.

PNS ASLAT is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, making it a powerful asset in ensuring freedom of navigation in the region. Its deployment is part of the Pakistan Navy’s broader strategy to ensure the security of maritime routes and support international efforts to combat piracy and other threats.

In addition to security missions, PNS ASLAT also visits various regional ports to engage in diplomatic activities.These visits are in line with Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives of promoting goodwill and cooperation with neighbouring countries and international partners.

The Pakistan Navy is committed to maintaining a strong presence in regional waters. As part of this effort, the Navy regularly conducts Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSPs) to monitor and respond to potential threats.
