Google News, Discover global outage reported, here’s what went wrong – Technology News

After facing complaints from users about its ‘search engine,’ Google is here explaining what went wrong and how! If you’ve noticed some weird behavior in Google Search today, the company has just confirmed that limited outages are causing “some features” to not work properly while some users are reporting problems with Discover and News.

On May 31 morning, Google explained in a post on Twitter/X, confirming that it is aware of issues with “some features” in Search. 

Google explained that “ The problem is that certain features aren’t serving properly. The good news, though, is that the problem has already been found and a fix is coming.”

What went wrong!

Reportedly, Google saw an increase in user reports regarding its services outages on Google products occurred around 8 a.m. ET. Reports from the Down Detector, a website that tracks online outages suggest that over 1,000 reports were posted as of 9 am ET and originated from locations across the US.

From what it is understood, Google initially confirmed it had identified an “ongoing issue with serving some features in Google Search on its service dashboard.” However, it did not provide any further details or address reports of problems with other products.

Clearing the sky ahead!

It looks like Google didn’t specifically explain about the issue. Rumors come in that some users have noticed that Google News and Google Discover were not working properly this morning. 

With reports from 9to5, SERoundtable first noticed that the “News” tab in Google Search wasn’t bringing back results earlier this morning. In addition to this the Google Discover on Android phones and the Google app weren’t also loading properly either, 9to5 highlighted. 

Furthermore, “both of those issues appear to be resolved on our end, with News and Discover working throughout all locations we’ve tested thus far. Your results may vary, though,” Google concluded.
