Local family searching for answers after their construction business is vandalized

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A local family is searching for answers after police say someone vandalized their construction equipment.

Michael Clark, who started his private construction business in 2022, says someone ransacked his machinery, costing him thousands of dollars in damages.

“This is the bread and butter for my family, this is what pays the bills, this is how we eat,” said Clark.

Clark has poured blood, sweat and tears into his construction company, Bradley Farms. What began as a dream quickly morphed into his family’s livelihood. The name is inspired by Clark’s 17-year-old son who has special needs.

“He’s nonverbal, autistic. The plans of this company is to one day, when I can’t work no more, we’ll be able to have enough money to support him- he’s going to require lifelong care,” added Clark.

Clark says on Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m., he got the call that his construction site on Cross Creek Drive in Mobile had been vandalized.

“They got windows, lights on the bulldozer, fuel tank on the bulldozer, they beat holes in my tool trailer,” he said.

A resident in the area heard the ruckus and snapped a few photos of what Clark said could be the suspect’s car. He says the damage to his equipment appears to be a calculated attack, but he has no idea who is behind it.

“They specifically got into the machines and destroyed the control panels and all of them just so they couldn’t run,” he said. “The insurance will cover the cost of the repairs and all but it still hurts my bottom dollar, it’s taken out of my profit margin.”

In the meantime, all he’s asking for is the person who did it to come forward.

“There’s plenty of ways other than this to handle, you know, somebody who’s disgruntled about something we are doing or something one of my employees has done- you don’t have to resort to this,” he concluded.

Mobile Police are investigating the incident. If you saw anything or recognize the vehicle in that photo, call MPD.
