A 150K Lottery Ticket Purchased at Merchant’s May Soon go to the Proverbial Toilet

Someone, walked into the Merchant’s Grocery in the Brice’s Creek neighborhood of New Bern and purchased a $3 Power Play Ticket for the December 6th, 2023 drawing.  That persons ticket matched 4 balls plus the Powerball which equals a $150,000 win.  The odds of this win were 1 in 913,129. 

However, that person either does not know it, or is waiting to the last possible moment to claim it. 

What we do know is that due to the NC Education Lottery Rules they have until 5pm tomorrow June 4th, 2024 to claim the prize by presenting the winning ticket at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh or the prize is forfeited.

Lottery official say that is the last thing they want to see happened.  “We hope that whomever purchased the ticket comes forward to claim their prize by Tuesday so we can celebrate the big win with them”

Well, hopefully whoever that person may be, is found or comes forward. 

On another note speaking of Merchant’s Grocery if you have never been there you got to check it out.  Maybe stop in the next time your using the locally known short cut to Jacksonville.  This place is one of the coolest  corner stores in the area.  They even have a cool grill.
