Caddick to build £42m Schneider Electric factory

Business

Caddick’s specialist division CCL Facades will deliver the curtain walling at the Scarborough Business Park site where Schneider Electric will be relocating to from its existing facility just 500m away.

Scarborough is a long-established manufacturing base for Schneider Electric, currently employing 450 people.

It specialises in the manufacture of low-voltage switchgears which protect and distribute electricity and are crucial to the rollout of sustainable and energy-efficient operations such as EV charging infrastructure and net-zero buildings.

The new factory will use modern technology to reduce energy waste and maximise the use of renewable energy. It is expected to be net-zero in Scope 1 and 2 emissions when it opens in early 2025.

Kelly Becker, President at Schneider Electric, UK & Ireland, Belgium & Netherlands

Paul Dodsworth, Group Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group said: “Schneider’s investment in North Yorkshire is a huge show of confidence for the region, and as a Yorkshire business ourselves we’re very proud to be delivering such an important manufacturing facility both in terms of its impact on the local economy and the move towards net zero.

“Our commitment is to building developments that enable our clients to have a global competitive edge, now and in the future, and we look forward to playing our part in the growth of sustainable manufacturing here in the UK.”
