County youth employment program sees record turnout

RACINE — The Racine County Summer Youth Employment Program kicked off last month with a record 123 participants.

The annual program, which began in 2021, provides youth ages 15-18 with paid employment from June through August with local government agencies, businesses and community organizations, according to Racine County.

The program will also feature “Skill Building Fridays,” where participants visit academic institutions such as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Carthage College. The schools offer workshops about key workplace competencies.

Participants this year started the program by gathering at Gateway Technical College’s Racine campus, the SC Johnson iMet Center and the Golden Rondelle Theater at SC Johnson’s Headquarters, according to the county.
