DBD devs plan to tweak three killers, including Freddy and the Skull Merchant

As part of their latest AMA session, members of the DBD development team revealed some of their plans for the game’s future, including tweaks to three killers: Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and the Skull Merchant. Of course, the devs haven’t revealed the exact changes they plan to make. However, the potential updates for the first two characters will likely be to make them more relevant in the current meta. Unfortunately, the Skull Merchant might not be as lucky.

According to Behaviour Interactive’s Reddit AMA answer, there is already a planned DBD update involving Freddy, and “[they’ll] have more information on that soon.” It’s currently unclear when this patch will arrive, but since it’s already in the works, you’ll probably get to see it sooner rather than later. However, potential changes to Michael Myers are still up in the air. “Myers is definitely on our radar, and we’re hoping to see an update for him in the not-so-distant future,” they said.

On the other hand, the Skull Merchant’s days of giving survivors nightmares may soon be coming to an end. Michael Nielsen, lead game designer for Dead by Daylight, said, “As designers, we can’t really say we’re happy with where Skull Merchant is currently at, and it’s something we’re looking into. We have some bigger changes planned for her next year,” which indicates a significant rework may be in the pipeline for the drone-wielding killer.

For those unfamiliar with the Skull Merchant’s reign of terror, the question the devs answered may help shed some light. The unnamed Redditor initially said, “Many survivor players are extremely annoyed by Skull Merchant’s power and will often leave a match just to avoid playing her.” Afterward, they shared some of the experiences they’ve had when facing this killer, which included teammates disconnecting upon seeing her or immediately giving up after being hooked once.

Luckily, the incoming DBD update should help make matches against the Skull Merchant more balanced. Though, of course, you will have to wait until next year to see the rework for yourself since that’s when the devs plan on releasing it.
