Everything You Need To Know – Forbes Advisor

Citi organizes Merchant Offers into five categories: Travel, Dining & Entertainment, Shopping, Health & Wellness and Other.

Travel

Examples of Travel Citi Merchant Offers include:

  • Circle K Fuel: 10% back after spending $35 or more with a maximum of $5 back through April 30, 2024
  • Lyft: 5% back on Lyft rides with a maximum of $7 back through May 15, 2024
  • Turo: $25 back after spending $150 or more with through June 30, 2024

Dining & Entertainment

Although lumped into one category, the Dining & Entertainment section offers two very different types of offers. Entertainment offers include a variety of discounts on national merchants:

  • FuboTV: 20% back on any FuboTV purchase up to three times through May 31, 2024
  • Grimaldi’s: 6% back on a maximum of $2,000 in qualifying purchases through June 6, 2024
  • Which Wich: 6% back on a maximum of $2,000 in qualifying purchases through June 6, 2024

The Dining part of this category is impressively local. That’s especially true when compared to other bank discount programs—which usually just include chain restaurants.

Instead, Citi Merchant Offers seems to primarily partner with local restaurants and local branches of national chains. That’s great for supporting small businesses. However, if you’re traveling or not located near your home address, these offers will be less useful.

It seems that Citi is piggybacking off the Rewards Network program for these offers. The terms and conditions of many of these Citi Merchant Offers note: “If you link to the same offer on more than one program, your qualifying transaction will only be eligible for rewards or benefits associated with the offer through the most recently linked site.” So, you won’t be able to double-dip by using both Rewards Network and Citi Merchant Offers.

Similarly, you won’t be able to take advantage of both Citi Merchant Offers and an airline or hotel dining program, which also runs on the Rewards Network. As all of these programs use the same backend system, you’ll only be able to link one program at a time.

I learned this the hard way when trying to take advantage of both a Citi Merchant Offers cash-back offer and an airline dining program. As soon as I enrolled in an offer through Citi Merchant Offers, I received an email from the AAdvantage Dining program that my card had been transferred to another dining program.

Shopping

The largest number of offers on my cards, with well over 100, are in the Shopping category. These Merchant Offers include a wide range of merchants from digital software to clothing and personal care items:

  • Blue Apron: $25 back on a purchase of $50 or more through April 30, 2024
  • CVS: 2% back up to two times with a maximum of $3 back through May 15, 2024
  • Macy’s: $5 back on a purchase of $55 or more through May 15, 2024
  • Newegg: 2% back up to 15 times with a maximum of $25 back through June 30, 2024
  • Winn Dixie: 5% back with a maximum of $5 back through May 19, 2024

Health and Wellness

Health and wellness offerings are pretty slim but include things like:

  • Pure Barre: $20 back on a purchase of $100 or more in-studio or online at purebarre.com through May 31, 2024
  • Green Chef: $25 back on a purchase of $25 or more through May 31, 2024

Other Citi Merchant Offers

The Other category is a catch-all for all other Merchant Offers that don’t fit into another category. These include offers like:

  • Ancestry: 20% back on a purchase of $100 or more through May 31, 2024
  • HelloFresh: $20 back on a purchase of $35 or more through May 31, 2024
  • Keeper Security: 50% back with a maximum of $50 back through May 31, 2024
