Filipino soldiers stand their ground at Ayungin Shoal, says AFP

“Hey, stop! This is our territory,” a Filipino soldier shouted at members of the China Coast Guard, GMA Integrated News’ JP Soriano reported.

The China Coast Guard used physical force, weapons, sirens, and bright lights to prevent our AFP from delivering supplies during a humanitarian mission at BRP Sierra Madre in the Philippine EEZ on June 17th.

In a separate post on X (formerly Twitter), the AFP said “Despite facing overwhelming numbers and harassment from the CCG, Filipino troops valiantly fought back and defended their position. The AFP maintains professionalism and steadfast commitment to uphold international law and preserve peace in the region.”

The AFP released photos of members of the China Coast Guard brandishing bladed and pointed weapons at Filipino troops on a routine rotation and resupply mission to the Ayungin Shoal on Monday. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
