G20 Brasil partners with Chinese Embassy to launch ebook in Mandarin

The Brazilian presidency of the G20, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy, has released the Mandarin edition of the ebook about Brasil’s G20 presidency. The ebook contains important information about the forum of the world’s largest economies and is currently available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Guarani, a widely spoken Indigenous language in Brasil.

Mandarin, the official language of China and one of six official languages recognized by the United Nations, is spoken by an estimated 1.138 billion people, approximately 14% of the global population. A striking 80% of China’s population speak Mandarin as their primary language. It is the second most widely spoken language internationally, after English.

The collaboration between G20 Brasil and the Chinese Embassy for the ebook launch aims to make information about the forum accessible to a broader audience. This ebook provides key insights and addresses common questions about the G20, illustrating how discussions among the world’s largest economies impact daily life. 

China in the G20

China, a founding member of the G20, has played a crucial role in discussions on the global economy, sustainable development, and technology. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in the first quarter of 2024, China recorded one of the highest economic growth rates within the group at 1.6%, alongside India (1.9%), Saudi Arabia (1.4%), South Korea (1.3%), and Indonesia (1.2%).
