Giant crocodile dragged and removed from highway twice

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – An alligator found on the side of a North Carolina highway had to be wanted by deputies not once, but twice, last week.

On the evening of May 13, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in Wilmington responded to the base of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge after receiving reports of a “large man hanging out in the roadway.”

When officers arrived, they were able to capture it before it made a 360-degree turn.

“He’s growling right now, too,” the deputy can be heard saying on the video.

Eventually, the Gator was safely removed from the highway.

“Thankfully, the alligator was saved from the freeway traffic and the people on the freeway were also saved from the alligator!” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, alligator sightings in North Carolina are normal because these beasts tend to hang out in bay lakes, rivers, streams, swamps, marshes, and ponds.

These are commonly found along the coast of the state where Wilmington is located. These crocodiles are also known to leave their freshwater habitats and make short trips to search for food.
