ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Golfers wore their wackiest clothes in their closets for the 15th annual traditional nine-hole scramble at Timber Pointe Golf Course to benefit local non-profit RAMP.

RAMP is a non-residential Center for Independent Living with a mission to build an inclusive community that encourages individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential.

“Our profit from today will go towards providing services to the disability community,” said RAMP Development Associate Abby Finley. “What a lot of people don’t know is that one in four individuals have a disability, so it’s really important that the profit from today go back into our programs because we want to serve that community that needs those additional services and that advocacy to access our communities in an equitable way.”

Over 75 participants enjoyed a beautiful day on the course. Along the way were some contest holes, like the longest drive competition, but the most coveted award was for the best bad pants.

“We’ve had some fun ones. We’ve had shorts, capris, pants, and it’s just a fun way to get people to think creatively and to wear some fun stuff and to just have a good time,” said Finley.

It is an event that golfers and organizers look forward to each year.

“It’s truly just such an honor to have everybody come out and support the work that we do,” said Finley. “It’s not only a testament to our community, but the generosity of individuals coming on out, spending their time with us on this beautiful day to support the work that we’re doing in our community.”

There was also a dinner and a silent auction after the competition.
