Google Discover and Google News down, users report outage; error message ‘Something went wrong. Please try again’ seen

Google Discover, the search giant’s personalised content feed, is facing a global outage, several users reported on social media. Users reported the disruption on social media as they pointed out that they were able to receive their dose of news, articles and updates using Google Discover. Google News is currently down on its desktop version as well as its iOS and Android devices.

Technologist Barry Schwartz commented, “This is also impacting the Google Discover feed, where sometimes no news is loaded on the Google home page.”

He added, “Plus some Google News sections and Google Trends, and more are not showing.”

Google has not yet commented on the outage.

Outage detection website Downdetector’s page reported, “User reports indicate possible problems at Google. Google is the world’s largest search engine. The firm also offers the Gmail e-mail service, the video hosting platform Youtube, Google maps, Google Talk and the Google+ social network. Google develops the Chrome browser and the Android software for smart phones including the Google Play store for mobile apps, as well as the Adwords and Adsense advertising platforms.”
