Dubbed ‘App auto open’, the new Play Store feature lets users automatically launch a newly installed app.
When you install an app from the Google Play Store, you get the option to either open or uninstall the app. But that might soon change, as Google is reportedly testing a new feature that will automatically launch the app as soon as it is installed on the device.
According to a new report by Android Authority, which performed an APK teardown of Google Play Store v41.4.19, the new feature dubbed ‘App Auto Open’ sends users a notification that appears as a “banner across the top of the screen” when activated.

While the motivation will ring or vibrate the device depending on the device settings, users will have the option to silence it. Also, the flag that enables the feature suggests that the notification will last up to five seconds.
The APK teardown also suggests that the functionality will be enabled by default but can be toggled on or off. The report also suggests that despite enabling the flag, the feature is not working as of now.
Currently, there is no information on if and when App Auto Open will be available to everyone, but if it comes out, the functionality could prove really handy if you are someone who forgets to launch new apps right after you install them.
In the last few months, Google added several new features to the Play Store like the ability to ‘Ask someone else to pay for this item’, download two apps simultaneously and update apps with limited amount of mobile data.
