GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man already in state prison will be there for eight additional years after being sentenced on two separate drug cases, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Matthew Lynch, 34, was sentenced to an aggregate term of eight years in New Jersey State Prison on two cases for second degree possession with the intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl and possession of heroin.

On June 21, 2022, police executed two search warrants, where Lynch was arrested, authorities said. He was found to be in possession of digital scales, which are commonly utilized to weigh drugs for sale and $1,482 in U.S. currency, which police believed to be from drug sales.

According to records, Lynch had only been released from state prison on March 13, 2022.

Investigation found that Lynch was supplying a residence in Atlantic City with heroin/fentanyl, methamphetamine and fentanyl pills to be distributed on his behalf, authorities said. Between May and June 2022, he sold more than a half-ounce each of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine to undercover cops in the county, according to officials.

Lynch also admitted to possessing heroin, which was found on him after a Nov. 30, 2022 road rage incident where he and Kalief Lyons, 35, threatened a man and brandished a handgun, police previously said. Lyons was sentenced to 10 years in state prison in that case; he awaits sentencing for a separate murder charge that happened while he was on home detention awaiting sentencing on the road rage case.
