SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Local skilled tradesmen came together on Saturday to repair homes as part of the “Rebuilding Together” program.
Around 370 tradesmen from around South Bend took time to help repair homes for elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners.
Repairs included new roofs, water heater replacements, plumbing, and electrical work.
“They’re out here giving their day. A lot of them are missing work,” said Derek Carrington, president of Roofers Local Union 23. “Without them, none of this could be done.”
All repairs were completed at no cost to the homeowners.
The program will hold “Community Volunteer Day” in two weeks on Saturday, April 27.
