Valley Companies Appoints Brandon Gilbert as Director of Logistics Partnerships

According to Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business, about 40% of U.S. family-owned businesses transition to a second generation. The odds for a third generation are even slimmer, at approximately 13%. A fourth is nearly improbable, at just 3%. Thirty-two years later, Gilbert has done more than just succeed as a third-generation owner; he has seen Valley through the transition of becoming a leading provider of customized logistics and managed transportation solutions. Now he has the pleasure of watching his company upend the odds—again—by appointing his son, Brandon, director of logistics partnerships, making him the first fourth-generation employee to join Valley on a full-time basis.

Trade Tech Names Suhan Kim Director for South Korea

Trade Tech announces the appointment of Suhan Kim as its new director for South Korea. This appointment follows the recent news of appointing Lana Le as first ever director for Vietnam. These new hires represent Trade Tech’s commitment to continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Cirba Solutions Announces Walter Sopp Chief Operating Officer

 Cirba Solutions announces the appointment of Walter Sopp as chief operating officer effective July 1, 2024. Walt brings over three decades of operational excellence and leadership experience from a range of areas including global lithium manufacturing, strategic planning, operational efficiency, greenfield/brownfield construction and manufacturing excellence.

Walt’s previous operational experience includes various leadership roles in the United States Marine Corps, as a Defense consultant, and most recently at Albemarle Corporation as the COO of Australia and the VP of Manufacturing for the Asia Pacific region. At Albemarle, Walt held numerous operational roles and oversaw the company’s first expansion projects for the construction, commissioning and start-up of lithium hydroxide manufacturing facilities in China and Australia.

Farrukh Ghani brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the company. His areas of responsibility will include leading the company’s efforts in strengthening its dealer network, adding to its growing list of national accounts, and continuing the company’s more aggressive approach to sales and marketing.

Ghani has held key leadership positions in the material handling industry.  In his previous position, he served as director of Channel Development for Doosan Industrial Vehicle America, helping the company achieve record growth and market share year-over-year from 2016 to 2023.  Prior to that, he served as VP and CFO for Clark Material Handling Company, overseeing and enhancing such diverse departments as Finance, Sales, IT, Order Management and Logistics, among others.

Harbor Commission Names Director of Project Controls

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners on Monday approved the selection of Ashley Morteboy to lead the Project Controls Division at Port of Long Beach, the nation’s second-busiest seaport. The director of Project Controls is responsible for establishing and tracking schedules, budgets and costs for the timely delivery of the Port’s infrastructure projects for the Engineering Services Bureau.

Morteboy comes to the Port of Long Beach after working two years as director of project controls at UC Davis Health, where he similarly oversaw the planning and design of the agency’s capital improvement program. He previously served as a senior manager at Procter & Gamble for two years and brings more than 18 years of project controls experience working nationally and internationally throughout his career, which spans a wide range of capital investment ventures for many sectors and industries.

HeroWear Appoints John Heller to New Role

HeroWear announces that John Heller will serve as the company’s first chief operating officer. In this new role, John will lead operations, finance, and HR. He will implement strategies to drive long-term growth by supporting the scalable adoption of exosuits and recurring services across many industries and applications.

The CCA Appoints Chiara Venuti to the Board

The Cool Chain Association (CCA) has welcomed Chiara Venuti, VP, Global Drug Distribution at MARKEN to its Board. Chiara brings a wide pharmaceutical supply chain perspective to the panel of experts leading the group. Venuti joins the Association leadership team as the CCA plans new projects with like-minded groups in the temperature-controlled supply chain, including launching a study with pharma.aero.        

Venuti has over 20 years’ experience in logistics, with a focus on perishables and temperature-controlled supply chain solutions, holding senior positions, including at Kuehne + Nagel, and, most recently, at Skycell AG
