YAKIMA- Following last month’s increase in Yakima’s unemployment rate, the newly released figures for June show a drop, with more jobs being created in the County.
June’s unemployment figure fell to 5.5%, remaining above the Washington State average rate of 4.9%. Kittitas County reported a small rise to 4.8%, from last month’s rate of 4.6%.
The number of those employed in Yakima County rose to 120,018, whereas Kittitas County fell slightly to just under 23,000. The Nursing and Residential Care and Employment Services industries saw the biggest decreases in workers during the year to June, whereas State Government Education and Construction Industries saw the biggest rise in new employees.
