Jean Marie Ollendieck was born January 22, 1937, daughter of Bernard and Irma (Fritz) Ollendieck, in Howard County, Iowa.  Jean was baptized and confirmed in her faith at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco, where she has been a lifetime member.  She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Assumption High School.  She enjoyed playing basketball during her school years.

She met the love of her life, Leland “Bud” McCarville barn dancing in Lime Springs.  They tied the knot on August 13, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Throughout her life, Jean had several long time jobs.  She was a dedicated CNA at Evans Nursing Home for 35 years, and was devoted to helping Bud with his auction business, McCarville Auction Company, for 45 years.

When Jean wasn’t working or volunteering, she enjoyed playing cards with her church group, sewing, embroidering, and knitting quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, which will be cherished forever with the warmth and love the blankets gave.  Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Red/Green Sprinkle Sugar Cookies, Popcorn Balls, Strawberry Jam and Carmel Puff Corn were some of her favorites to make in the kitchen.  She enjoyed watching sports and liked to cheer on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events, sometimes arriving 2 hours early to get “her spot”.  She was a big fan of and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins, and Green Bay Packers.

Jean will be missed by her children Deborah (Dennis) Sobolik, Ricky McCarville, Daniel “Duck” McCarville, Brenda (Tom) Kubik, Carol (Dennis) Stika, Connie (David) Kovarik all of Cresco, and daughter-in-law Kathy McCarville of Cresco; grandchildren Ryan (Carrie) McCarville of Cresco, Kim McCarville of Cresco, Kyle (Amber) McCarville of Cresco, Kelly (Samantha) McCarville of Cresco, Dustin (Mariah) Sobolik of Swea City, IA, Derek Sobolik  of Cresco, Cody (Kari) Stika of Paullina, IA, Casey (Darcy) Stika of New Hampton, IA, Kelsey (Adam) Nelson of Cresco, Heather (Kraig) Johnson of Cresco, Stephanie (Brad) Sovereign of Cresco, Kayla (Chris) Sullivan of Cresco, Ashley (Ethan) Kraft of Cresco, Zachary (Melinda) Kovarik of Cresco, Erica (Tyler) Rinnels of Cresco; 31 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; sister Joyce Sweeny of Waterloo, IA, brothers Kenneth (Dalene) Ollendieck of Buckingham, IA, and Charles Ollendieck of Cresco, IA, siblings -in-law Bernice, Dulcie, Lois and Sonia Ollendieck of Cresco, IA, David (Donita) McCarville of Waterloo, IA, Dale (Becky) McCarville of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jean Ann (Bob) Milne of Cedar Rapids, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
