Merchant fatally assaults minor son of paramour, arrested

, resulting in the child’s demise, apparently in a fit of fury after discovering a closely guarded secret about the woman being previously married and divorced, police officials informed.
The accused, identified by the authorities as Mohd Dilshad Imran, resided in the MMRDA housing high-rise in Manpada with the woman in a live-in relationship for the past two years after they met in Navi Mumbai, where the woman was employed at a bar and restaurant.

The woman was previously married and had a son from that marriage before she divorced her first spouse and met the trader.
The woman had entrusted her son to her sister’s care in their native village in West Bengal while she continued working in Navi Mumbai. Despite their romantic involvement and subsequent decision to stay together, the woman apparently did not disclose her past to the trader for two long years. However, the secret was exposed after the woman’s sister reunited her nephew with his mother in Thane recently, the Chitalsar Manpada police stated.
In the meantime, the man, now seething with rage at being kept uninformed about the past by his paramour, unleashed his anger on her son and began mistreating him. On Sunday, when the woman was away for some work, the man allegedly brutally assaulted her son and slammed him against some metal furniture, which apparently badly injured his spine and also caused internal hemorrhaging of his vital organs, informed Amarsinh Jadhav, deputy police commissioner, zone V.
The boy was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Initially, the police registered an accidental death case in the matter, but following investigations and interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime, leading to his arrest under relevant sections of the BNS, officials informed.
