Montero inspires Juve fightback in thrilling 3-3 draw in Bologna

May 20 (The Will) – Auditioning for Juventus, Thiago Motta’s Bologna held a 3-0 lead against the Turin giants on Monday night before being forced back to 3-3 in a dramatic finale.

Bologna gained momentum from the start and led 2-0 within 11 minutes with goals from Riccardo Calafioli and Santiago Castro. Calafiori added a third goal just before time expired as Juventus, playing their first game since the sacking of manager Massimiliano Allegri, were coming from behind.

However, the visiting side showed more fight after the interval under interim coach Paolo Montero. Federico Chiesa and substitutes Arkadiusz Milik and Kenan Yildiz scored in eight chaotic minutes to unbelievably equalize.

The thrilling 3-3 draw kept Bologna in third place in Serie A, ahead of Juventus on goal difference with two games in hand. Motta has been heavily linked with becoming Bianconeri manager next season, but when asked about his future, he did not rule out the possibility of a move.

“I haven’t decided anything, I haven’t signed anything,” said the 41-year-old former Italy midfielder. “We will talk to the president next week and make a decision together.”
