Africa’s most valuable group, Naspers and Prosus, said on Monday a strong showing from Brazil’s iFood and its classified business helped it about halve operating losses and achieve profitability in its ecommerce portfolio in its 2024 year.
Naspers reported its ecommerce consolidated trading profit improved to $24 million (R432 million) to end March, from a loss of $437 million previously. Scale and cost reductions also helped core headline earnings, its preferred measure, rise 88% to $2.1 billion.
