New Mexico State Library offers free access to NYT subscription, e-books

SANTA FE, N.M. (KFDA) – The New Mexico State Library now offers free access to e-books, audio books and subscriptions to The New York Times to New Mexico residents.

Residents can access e-book materials through The Palace Project, an app that lets users download books, or the subscription through the library’s website.

According to a news release, patrons can download The Palace Project from the App Store or Google Play then select New Mexico State Library in the app and register an account for free.

New Mexicans can access The New York Times digital subscription by visiting the state library’s website and following links to redeem daily codes.

Deputy State Librarian Kate Alderete says the library’s goal is to ensure access to fun and useful information. She hopes people across the state take advantage of the resources.

“Having the ability to offer libraries, library patrons and rural constituents access to digital services like The New York Times and The Palace Project is pivotal to the mission of the New Mexico State Library,” said Alderete. “Connection to a major publication like The New York Times for coverage of world and national events is essential to the health of a democratic society. And when the news bums you out, switch over to Games or Cooking or check out an e-book or audio book from The Palace Project.”
