Newlyweds Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant Reach Jamnagar, Welcomed With Petal Shower, Aarti | Watch

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, who tied the knot in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai on July 12, reached Jamnagar on Wednesday to a warm welcome with a shower of flower petals, aarti, and a rose carpet.

The couple greeted the crowd with folded hands showed several videos and pictures. In one of the videos, women decked up in sarees welcomed Anant — younger son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani — and Radhika — daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare Pvt. Ltd and entrepreneur Shaila Merchant — by performing aarti and showering them with rose petals.

In another video, the two smiled and greeted the people as they arrived in the town, standing in a car. While Radhika wore a pink suit, Anant donned a red kurta and matching jacket.

Jamnagar holds special significance for the couple as Anant grew up in the town which was also the venue for their pre-wedding festivities. The three-day celebrations saw many big names in attendance, including performances by Rihanna, Arijit Singh, Ajay-Atul, Diljit Dosanjh, and illusionist David Blaine.

Earlier, speaking to the media about the decision to pick Jamnagar for the celebrations, Anant had said: “I have grown up here, and it’s my good fortune that we could plan the celebration here. This is my dadi’s janmabhoomi (grandmother’s birthplace) and my dada and papa’s karmabhoomi (my grandfather and father’s workplace). It’s a matter of pride and happiness when our PM said that one should get married in India. And this is my home .”

Anant’s pet project — the animal rescue and rehabilitation center Vantara — is also situated in Jamnagar.

Anant and Radhika tied the knot on July 12 in a star-studded bash that saw the who’s who from across the world take part in the festivities. From the international front, stars such as John Cena, Kim Kardashian, and Khloe Kardashian graced the occasion. Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Rekha and several others were present at the wedding ceremony. Political leaders were also present at the event. These include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Uddhav Thackeray, Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav.

This was followed by ‘Shubh Aashirwad’ ceremony, which took place on July 13. As part of the ceremony, Anant and Radhika participated in a grand puja organised at their wedding venue. The event was graced by PM Narendra Modi, who not only blessed the couple but also gave them a special gift. Former President Ram Nath Kovind, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as well as Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and veteran leader, and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar were among the many political leaders at the ceremony.

The celebrations culminated with the ‘Mangal Utsav’ ceremony, a grand reception hosted by the family.
