Niger gov awards contract for remodelling Umaru Musa Yar’adua General Hospital

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has awarded a contract for the remodelling of Umaru Musa Yar’adua General Hospital in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdulberqy Usman Ebbo, announced on his Facebook page that work has already commenced on the project.

Ebbo added that the hospital will be equipped with modern facilities to meet international standards, emphasising that a well-functioning healthcare system is a cornerstone of public welfare, ensuring that people receive quality care when they need it most.

The Special Adviser explained that Governor Umaru Bago is prioritising the healthcare system and investing in the improvement of hospitals as one of the most crucial responsibilities of his administration to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

He further emphasised that the governor believes improving hospitals is an investment in the future. Healthy citizens are more productive, contribute more to the economic growth of the state, and increase public trust in the government.

Ebbo also revealed that in less than two years of Governor Bago’s administration, several milestones in healthcare have been achieved.

These include the remodelling of the intensive care unit at IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, with state-of-the-art facilities, and converting the old Shiroro Hotel into the first teaching hospital in the state.

He added that Minna General Hospital now has a new doctor’s quarters, and construction is ongoing for a hundred level-two primary health care centres across the state.
