Gunshots were fired at a building in the Ville-Marie borough around 5 a.m., Montreal police say.

Police received a 911 call reporting the sounds of gunfire at Wellington and Peel Sts., according to police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

Police discovered bullet holes in a building and shell casings on the ground. Witnesses said one or more suspects drove a vehicle toward the building, fired the shots and fled. No injuries were reported.

A perimeter has been set up while police and forensic technicians examine the scene.
