GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Packer City International Trucks held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday to kick off an expansion project at its corporate headquarters in Green Bay.

The company — which sells medium and heavy-duty trucks, parts and services — also has locations in Appleton and Shawano.

Officials say the new construction will increase the Green Bay building’s size from 26,000 square feet to just over 41,000 square feet.

Additions include a second floor for office space, new first-floor parts space, a new shop bay area and an expansion of the existing shop floor, as well as various exterior improvements.

“We feel that in order to better serve our customers coming in, we’re going to make it more easy for them. They’ll be able to drive through — we’ll be able to take three trucks in a row just in one bay. All the bays are actually being set up for plow trucks too, so the customer doesn’t have to drop a wing, which is a big deal for our local municipalities. We’re there to help them with that too. We’re excited about our new product,” said Bob Renkens, president of Packer City International Trucks.

Construction is set to begin this month. It is estimated Packer City’s expanded Green Bay facility will be complete next spring. Officials say the company will remain fully operational throughout the expansion.
