Polri launches digitalization of event licensing services

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) launched the digitalization of event licensing services to expedite the bureaucratic process in applying for event permits.

The service, which Polri initiated in collaboration with other ministries and institutions, was inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo on Monday at the Tribrata Building in Jakarta.

The ministries involved are the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communication and Information, and the Ministry of BUMN.

National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the service is part of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system.

With the digital licensing integration, the public can access licensing services for organizing sports, music, and other events anywhere and anytime.

He also stated that the service simplifies the process of applying for permits to organize events.

Earlier, applying for permits took 14 days, though currently, organizers only need to complete the required documents online.

He remarked that the service is in line with Indonesia’s digital transformation policy and also global trends that are developing digitally.

“For this reason, the National Police continues to adapt to ensure the implementation of events that are easy and of international standard. We hope that the creative industry can quickly adapt from offline submission to online submission,” he noted.

The chief stated that currently, the digitalization of event-organizing services has been implemented at seven venues in Jakarta and Banten.

The seven venues are the entire Gelora Bung Karno area, JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Beach City International Stadium (BCIS) Ancol, Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and Community Park PIK 2.

The National Police has also conducted risk assessment to ensure the suitability and safety of all those places.

“In the future, the National Police is ready to implement online licensing in other big cities in Indonesia, such as Medan, Bogor, Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Surabaya, and also other provinces,” he remarked.

He expressed hope that through the service, the creative industry in Indonesia can further develop and grow as well as provide benefits and contributions to society and the government.

Listyo said his side realizes there is room to improve the digital service.

“Therefore, we are opening as much space as possible for creative industry players to provide criticism and suggestions as a form of our shared commitment to continue to support and develop Indonesia’s creative industry,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI) Dino Hamid commended the digitalization of licensing services.

“The hope is that this one-stop OSS can further increase our work domestically and internationally that can increase our economic and ecosystem value,” he stated.
