In 2024, Qatar Airways was named Airline of the Year for its excellent service and innovation, taking the top spot. This achievement saw Qatar Airways surpass previous winners such as Air New Zealand, which was the top airline in 2023.
Jeffrey Thomas, editor-in-chief of AirlineRatings.com, explained in an interview: “Our objective analysis showed that Qatar Airways excelled in many key areas, but the scores of the top five airlines were very close. Qatar Airways won because it received very favorable ratings from passengers in both business and economy class.”
This year, Korean Air took second place, Cathay Pacific in third place, Air New Zealand in fourth place and Emirates in fifth place.
In addition to the overall ranking, AirlineRatings.com also recognised airlines in a variety of specific categories. Qatar Airways was named Best Business Class for the fifth consecutive year, and also won the award for Best Catering.
