SDGs: College trains young students on digital health technology

THE Howbury School, Lagos, has empowered some young students to enable them to provide solutions and creatively tackle world challenges outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN).

The sixth edition of the annual Senior Internship Programme (SIP) organised by Howbury School Lagos was attended by 10 students aged 12 to 15, focused on training the interns of use of digital health technology.

The young students were engaged in workshops, project work and skill development sessions creating innovative solutions such as Health Data Dashboard for visualising trends, a Mobile Health App prototype for health tips and tracking user metrics, a Community Health Awareness Campaign, an Analysis and Improvement Plan for Telemedicine Services, Health  Informatics Training Modules and Digital Health Survey and Analysis.

Speaking during the training programme, the Programme Lead, Miss Christiana Ogunyoye, stated that the school organised the annual event to enable students to understand how to tackle world challenges from the SDGs.

She added that this year’s focus was on SDG 3, aimed at ensuring good health and well-being for all ages through the use of Digital Health Technology.

The Senior Internship Programme (SIP 2024) was hosted by Howbury School Lagos in partnership with IWELLO Digital Health Care Services.

The programme, which lasted for eight days focused on using ‘Digital Health Technology to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Ensuring Good Well-being for All at All Ages.

The programme provided practical experience in digital health thereby empowering the interns to contribute to global health initiatives. Each intern earned a certificate and received payment upon completion of the programme.
