More than 40 businesses will support a charity event which will see people sleep rough for one night.

The annual Oxfordshire CEOSleepout, organised by Oxfordshire Homeless Movement, will take place on October 10 at University Parks.

The event aims to raise £100,000 to help those experiencing homelessness in Oxfordshire, but £50,000 still needs to be raised to reach this target..

Project director, Yvonne Pinner, said: “Currently it looks like we will raise less than last year and yet on top of existing projects, we now hope to add something for women’s provision.

“We need to be raising £100,000. So please, come join us.”

The event, which has been described as “the weirdest but coolest networking event,” offers participants a chance to meet influential business people while gaining an understanding of the challenges faced by the homeless.

There will be free parking and a breakfast provided by Univ – last year’s hosts.

Participants are encouraged to share their experiences on social media to inspire others and help raise awareness of the cause.

Last year, 47 participants raised £76,500, and there is still time to sign up for this year’s event.

Those already signed up can help by encouraging someone else to take part as well.

CEOs, managers, colleagues or entire teams can take part, with the charity saying “whatever the case, more people are needed to join the cause”.
