Springfield non-profit offers employment, skill building to those with disabilities

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The team at KOLR 10 and Fox 49 are serving the community today at SWI Industrial Solutions, a local company that employs people with developmental disabilities.

Kathy Daine, Director of Quality Control at SWI, says employees might struggle to find work elsewhere but can learn skills while keeping busy and earning a living.

“We have several large companies here in Springfield who are great supporters of us and this is a safe space for them to come and work and earn a paycheck,” Daine said.

SWI employees can work packaging items, filling Easter eggs, working in the garden and more. While SWI doesn’t typically have volunteers, Daine said the staff love occasional visitors like the KOLR 10/Fox 49 team and are grateful for the extra hands.
