Stephen Merchant’s comedy The Outlaws returns for a third series

Pick of the day: The Outlaws

9pm, BBC One

The enjoyable comedy caper about a bunch of Bristolians on community service returns for a third outing, with the cast largely intact (albeit no sight as yet of Christopher Walken) and with Jessica Gunning’s star on the rise thanks to Netflix’s Baby Reindeer. Gunning’s supervisor Diane is now a fully-fledged PCSO, while solicitor Greg (series co-creator Stephen Merchant), right-wing blowhard John (Darren Boyd), activist Myrna (Clare Perkins), Christian (Gamba Cole) and influencer Lady Gabby (Eleanor Tomlinson) are set to work on a city farm. And with drug baron The Dean (Claes Bang) awaiting trial, their troubles seem to be over.

The Truth About Temu: Dispatches

8pm, Channel 4

Ellie Flynn investigates Temu, the Chinese shopping app with prices too good to be true. She finds out whether some of their products are made with high levels of harmful materials and if they are accurately advertised as holding recognised safety certificates. The journalist also travels across the UK revealing how addictive the app can be.

Taskmaster

9pm, Channel 4

It’s the grand final, with Greg Davies and contestants wearing their best bib and tucker while Alex Horne dons some slightly alarming fake bushy eyebrows. The last team task of the series is an instant classic, as they’re asked to invent a new shiny-floor American TV game show in just half an hour (don’t expect Steve Pemberton’s scatological concept to find any clamour from takers). Pemberton and “Taskmaster nerd” John Robins are the hot favourites to carry off Davies’s golden noggin, but Sophie Willan upends the host’s low opinion of her abilities, while Nick Mohammed makes a magical prediction.

A Small Light

9pm, Drama

Continuing the welcome chance to view this Emmy-nominated Second World War drama free-to-air (it was shown on Disney+ last year) with its fresh take on the familiar story of Anne Frank’s diary. And with the Frank family secure in the secret annexe, Miep Gies (Bel Powley) is asked by her Jewish dentist if she knows a place where he can hide. The courageous young secretary has to find new and more dangerous ways to evade the occupying Nazis.

Bloody Omaha: Timewatch

9pm, BBC Four

Historians are still arguing about why Omaha Beach was the hardest beach to capture during the D-Day landings. In this 2007 documentary, Richard Hammond analysed the then-latest theories with Dr Simon Trew of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, revealing how a small group of men, ending up in the wrong place at the right time, helped turn a potential tragedy into victory.

We Are Lady Parts

10pm, Channel 4

A well-deserved second series for Nida Manzoor’s sparky, stereotype-dismantling comedy about an all-female Muslim punk band. And as the band returns home from a summer of gigs, frontwoman Saira (Sarah Kameela) announces that it’s time to record their debut album – but first, they must raise enough money to pay for the studio time. Meanwhile, they are stunned to discover they have a rival Muslim band, Second Wife. As Second Wife go viral with a cover of Lady Parts’ most famous song, the band fears that they are about to be replaced.
