At the heart of Canon’s spirit is the Japanese philosophy of “kyosei.”of Organizational interpretation of this concept It envisions a world where individuals live and work in harmony for the benefit of the group. This perspective underpins Canon’s global strategy and drives our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

Norihiro Katagiri, Senior Vice President, Canon Singapore, emphasizes that embracing innovation to solve problems and achieve better outcomes is fundamental to kyosei. He noted the challenges that businesses have faced in recent years in integrating diverse data types without adequate infrastructure for tasks such as data entry, data analysis, and archiving.

“Canon’s Smart Tech solutions aim to bridge these gaps and provide a more comprehensive level of support, enabling businesses to scale and thrive,” Katagiri said.

These solutions fall into three pillars: smart workplace, smart surveillance, and smart verticals.

Transform your business with front-end innovation

Smart workplace products aim to increase productivity and digitize workflows for companies. For example, by leveraging optical character recognition technology, manual tasks such as data entry and invoice processing can be automated, reducing human error and increasing efficiency.

Canon’s multifunction devices utilize facial recognition technology to enhance document security.

Furthermore, with the increasing demand for enhanced document security, Adopt a shared workspace, Canon is introducing a user authentication system that utilizes advanced facial recognition technology into its multifunction devices (MFDs). The solution leverages deep learning capabilities to identify unique facial features to ensure only authorized staff have access to sensitive documents.

Smart surveillance solutions employ advanced cloud video surveillance and data analytics to protect public safety. In elderly care settings, residents are monitored 24 hours a day and medical personnel are immediately alerted in the event of a fall.

“The system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to distinguish between fall accidents and similar non-hazardous actions, such as kneeling or squatting,” Katagiri said. “With a growing elderly population, we expect the demand for such solutions to increase in Singapore and the region.”

Mr. Katagiri pointed out that the smart vertical pillars have the highest growth potential. These solutions are designed to streamline complex industry-specific processes and automate tasks to accelerate innovation.

For example, at a tertiary-level campus in Singapore, Canon’s Course Scheduling Attendance System automates attendance tracking. The system incorporates attendance statistics and the school’s backend system to facilitate easy retrieval of records. Integrated with door access control, it also enhances security by regulating entry to class venues using facial recognition technology.

Simplify your business with Canon

Canon’s solutions enable small and medium-sized businesses to scale in a dynamic environment, Low said.

According to Vincent Loh, senior director and general manager of Canon Singapore, customers are increasingly demanding seamless implementation in rapidly evolving environments. Canon’s goal is to help simplify complex processes through a consultative approach.

Process optimization can range from large-scale corporate projects, such as digitizing large volumes of paper records using Canon’s document management solutions, to small-scale adjustments that lead to increased efficiency. For example, Canon introduced QR codes for reporting problems with multifunction printers, eliminating the need for customers to search for model and serial numbers when seeking support. From now on, the user only needs to scan her QR code on her MFD and select the issue from her menu drop-down. Once submitted, technical service requests will be responded to within two hours.

In addition to using facial recognition technology to enhance MFP access and document management, Canon is leveraging AI-based technologies such as natural language processing and machine learning software to improve data capture and processing. They tackle more complex challenges, such as understanding documents. These innovations allow companies to free up employees to do more valuable work, encourage creative problem solving, and drive business growth.

Mr. Low emphasized Canon’s commitment to fostering collaborative relationships and moving forward with small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers. Many of our customers have been our loyal partners since our founding in Singapore 45 years ago. He said, “Canon started with a traditional product-centric approach and has since enhanced its offerings to provide comprehensive solutions to meet evolving needs.”

Additionally, Mr Lo highlighted the growing interest among small and medium-sized businesses in obtaining bespoke solutions for their employees and operations. “By leveraging Canon’s suite of solutions to drive business value, these small and medium-sized businesses are building greater resilience and paving the way for consistent scale-up in changing circumstances,” he said. Improving product quality through back-end innovation

Canon adopts an anti-loosening welded frame to maintain the accurate and stable position of the MFD’s critical components.

Continuing Canon’s commitment to excellence and innovation, Canon Prachinburi Thailand has introduced a significant advancement in manufacturing with anti-loosening welded frames. Breaking away from traditional screw-based approaches, the unique design not only strengthens the structural integrity of Canon’s multifunction devices, but also ensures long-term reliability and accuracy in a variety of environments.

By eliminating common problems associated with loose screws, Canon optimizes performance and durability, leading to lower maintenance costs and increased customer satisfaction. This innovation underscores Canon’s commitment to quality and embodies the symbiosis in which the organization aims to contribute to the betterment of society by improving the effectiveness of its products.

Canon’s technology-driven front-end solutions and back-end enhancements work together to deliver value-added products and services to customers across Asia.
