At 8:56 that night, a Vernon police officer on patrol in the area of Prospect and East Main streets attempted to stop a black Honda Civic that had a plate that did not match the vehicle, according to an arrest report.

The driver sped away from the officer and then abandoned the vehicle and ran away on foot near Cottage Street and School Street, according to an arrest report.

The driver was corralled in the Dollar General parking lot on East Main Street and was in possession of narcotics and a large sum of cash, according to an arrest report. He was identified as 18-year-old Joey Robinson, who is “known to the VPD,” according to an arrest report.

Robinson was charged with evidence tampering, interfering with police, the sale of a narcotic substance and possession of a controlled substance (second offense). He was arraigned in Rockville Superior Court the next day and his initial bond of $150,000 was reduced to $75,000, which he did not post, according to judicial system records.

He is due back in court on July 23, records show.
