Texas Dealer Won’t Sell Tesla Cybertruck AWD for $100K, Are They Stuck With It for Good?

Anyway, what we have here is a brand-new 2024 Tesla Cybertruck AWD in Foundation Series spec, much like the one we showed you back in May, which had 283 miles on the clock. Now, while this one here comes with delivery miles, it still failed to sell at auction – for no good reason, if you ask me.

The Cybertruck that failed to sell in May brought in a top bid of $120,000, nearly $20,000 over MSRP, which the seller refused. Meanwhile, this one maxed out at $100,000 in terms of bidding. Safe to say that holding on for profits isn’t a smart play when it comes to EVs such as the Cybertruck, at least not in this market.

This car’s owner, a dealership out of Shady Grove, Texas, should have probably taken $100k, even though it would have been slightly below MSRP. It’s time to accept that these things aren’t going up in value anymore. Heck, they’re not even going to hold their value – neither in the short nor the long term. The way things are going, Tesla might end up dropping the starting MSRP altogether for the Cybertruck, which is totally going to disrupt bidding on second-hand models.

Regarding that whole being “stuck with it for good” thing, It was a bit tongue-in-cheek. This will eventually sell, but probably not at $100k. So, unless the price is lowered, or the dealer accepts a lower bid at auction, ‘for good’ may well be in the cards, at least temporarily.

In terms of specs, this Cybertruck comes with Foundation Series badging, a power-operated frunk, eight exterior cameras, an off-road light bar, 20” Cyber alloy wheels with Goodyear tires, LED lighting, a composite 6’ cargo box, heated and ventilated seats in black Premium upholstery with white piping, a 15-speaker sound system, heated rear seats, wireless charging pads, and much more.

It’s also got Full Self-Driving capability, to go with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and emergency lane departure avoidance. Overall, this is a very safe vehicle. At least for the people inside, because you definitely don’t want to get hit by one as a pedestrian. There’s a reason why Europe doesn’t want the Cybertruck on its roads, and it’s a good one.

As for performance, since this is an AWD spec Cybertruck, it’ll give you 600 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque, to go with an estimated range of about 340 miles.
