The Future of the Internet as a Global Infrastructure

Digital Products

Europe, the Americas and Africa need more data, faster. Atlantic Convergence is the first conference and business event to discuss the potential of digital infrastructure across the Atlantic. It’s where Europe, North America, South America and Africa come together.

First Conference on New Transatlantic Business Opportunities

Data is a primary driver of digital transformation. Data is key to global competitiveness and holds great potential for economic growth and innovation. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Atlantic Basin. Growing digital demand across the Atlantic is increasing the importance of transatlantic internet infrastructure and accelerating its development, creating value and new business opportunities across the continent.

The EU is addressing this issue by investing up to 300 billion euros in various infrastructure projects between 2021 and 2027. The first milestone was the Africa-Europe Investment Package, with a total investment of around 150 billion euros. Similar activities follow in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, the Eura-Africa Gateway cable will link the EU and Africa along the Atlantic coast, strengthening the digital sovereignty of both continents, while also increasing data traffic and improving security. The European Secure Satellite Communications Programme will also improve connectivity in Africa, bringing the Internet to especially the most remote areas of the continent.

On the other side of the Atlantic, a similar program is underway. In September 2023, the U.S. Administration released the Declaration on Transatlantic Cooperation, announcing a partnership of 32 countries along the Atlantic coast that will address economic development, science and technology. Participating countries include Brazil, Canada, Iceland, Ireland, Liberia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, the Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

All transatlantic opportunities in one meeting

new Atlantic Convergence The conference aims to combine public initiatives with actionable business plans. It is where Africa, Europe and the Americas meet. Participants from all over the Atlantic coast come together to create a shared and connected future. It is a unique forum for companies, institutions and providers. It is the perfect place to discuss and foster collaboration.

  • How can we improve the speed, reduce costs and minimise delays on transatlantic connections?
  • How can Europe and North America improve connectivity with regions such as Latin America and Africa?
  • How well does your existing infrastructure withstand a cyber attack?
  • What are the digital drivers across the Atlantic economy and what are the needs for emerging AI and cloud technologies?
  • Can current undersea, land and space infrastructure meet new demands?
  • What new data corridors are emerging across the Atlantic?
