Thieves ransack Hickman auto dealership but don’t steal classic cars

HICKMAN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Hickman business owner is on the lookout for whoever broke into his car dealership.

PJ Shaw owns Air Cowboy Collectible Cars. He said someone broke the windows to get in during Father’s Day weekend.

They stole most of the sales records, Shaw said.

“Then they took the keys, took all the titles and the current sale jackets that we have,” he said.

Surprisingly, he said, they didn’t steal any of the classic cars.

“I felt violated, you know,” Shaw said. “Because anybody that would have wanted any of that stuff, if they’d just ask me, we would have gladly given whatever we had.”

A week and a half later, there is still glass on the ground outside and several windows needing repairs.

Shaw estimates that there are a couple thousand dollars in damage.

He said the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating some handprints.

The business had cameras, but the thieves also took them and the backup drive.

“I just hope it’s not somebody local,” he said. “Because that would really kind of put a hinderance on … all the trust that’s been built around this small community.”

Shaw is asking people in the community to check their security camera footage from Father’s Day weekend.

He is now offering a $2,000 reward for information on the theft.

“We’ll continue to do that until we find these people and bring them to justice,” he said.
