ROCHESTER — Longtime local car seller Tom Kadlec will soon start building a new home for its Kia dealership in northwest Rochester next to its Honda complex.
The plan is to build a new 31,700-square-foot Kia dealership on open land between Tom Kadlec Honda at 3333 Wilder Road NW and
at 2953 Wilder Road NW.
Building this new complex will bring all of Kadlec’s brands to northwest Rochester, near US 14 and West Circle Drive.
Since Kadlec acquired the Kia brand from Luther Automotive and
in 2015, the Kia operation has been based at 4444 US-52. That’s the former home of
and
before that.
While the Kadlec leadership of Chief Operating Officer Tyler Kadlec and Chief Financial Officer Anthony Kadlec aren’t publicly discussing the timeline of the Kia project yet, the early development plans have been given a green light from the city of Rochester to move forward. Some early grading work has already taken place to clear ground for the project.
This project will be the latest milestone in the shift of the 45-year-old Kadlec operation from Rochester’s historic “Car Row” along US 52 to the Wilder Road/ US 14 area.
Tom Kadlec tripled its Rochester footprint when it built
its new 55,000-square-foot Honda dealership on Wilder Road
in 2014. It moved its inventory of vehicles and its team of 100 employees there in 2015.
In 2017,
the Kadlec organization purchased the former ProBuild/ United Building Center lumber yard
at 2953 Wilder Road NW for $1.65 million. That site then became home to Kadlec Auto Body in 2018.
